At the Association for the Promotion of Buddhist Values, we are committed to protecting the privacy and security of our members, volunteers, customers and website visitors. As an association based in the European Union, we are bound by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and take our responsibilities under the GDPR seriously.

We collect personal information from you and about you when you provide it to us either directly or via our website or forms. The personal information we collect includes your name, email address, postal address, telephone number and other contact information.

We use your personal information for the following purposes:

To process and respond to your requests, such as registering for classes and lectures and processing specific requests for membership, volunteering or tours of our center.
To provide you with information and updates about our services, events and activities.
To manage customer data and export data to Excel.
To improve our website and services and to better understand the needs and preferences of our users.

How we share your personal information with others:

We share your personal information with the following third party providers:

Wordpress Forminator, for forms
MailChimp, for newsletters
Wordpress Webmail, for processing requests
Hertzner, our hosting service
Caspio, for use of the library

In addition, we use Google's reCAPTCHA system to determine whether an entry originates from a person or from automated processing. This is done in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 GDPR to protect against automated spam processing. Data, including IP address and behavioural data, is transferred to Google. Google is certified under the Privacy Shield Agreement and thus guarantees compliance with European data protection law. Further information can be found in Google's privacy policy.

We may also share your personal information when required by law, for example, in response to a court order or summons, or to protect the rights, property or safety of the Association for the Promotion of Buddhist Values, its members, volunteers, customers and others. When we share personal data with third parties, we take steps to ensure that they comply with the GDPR and use your personal data only for the purposes for which we have disclosed it to them.

Security of your personal data:

We take the security of your personal information seriously and have taken appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect it from unauthorized access, use, disclosure or destruction. However, please note that no method of transmission or storage over the internet or any other public network is completely secure.

Your rights:

Under the General Data Protection Regulation, you have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your personal data. You also have the right to request a copy of your personal data in a portable format and to object to the processing of your personal data for certain purposes.
